Darley Newman, Emmy Award-winning host of Travels with Darley on PBS, stopped by Good Day New York on FOX 5 this week for a live conversation with Rosanna Scotto. The two talked about Darley's new book, Revolutionary Road Trip: Hidden Stories of America's Founding Journey. Darley shared a few of her favorite history-filled escapes just beyond New York City.

Three History-Filled Escapes Near NYC
Darley highlighted three destinations from the book that make for easy day or weekend trips from New York City, each tied to a pivotal chapter of the Revolutionary War:
Princeton, New Jersey — Site of the pivotal 1777 Battle of Princeton, a turning point that boosted colonial morale after Washington's crossing of the Delaware.
Saratoga Springs, New York — Home to the 1777 Battle of Saratoga, widely considered the turning point of the Revolutionary War and the battle that convinced France to back the American cause. Darley launched her national book tour here at Universal Preservation Hall.
Morristown, New Jersey — Washington's military headquarters through two brutal winters, and now home to Morristown National Historical Park.
