About the Book

Revolutionary Road Trip takes readers on a journey to hidden Revolutionary-era fortresses, authentic colonial taverns, and battlefields where lesser-known heroes shaped a nation. From tasting Martha Washington's recipe for Cherry Bounce to an emotional trek with a military historian at Camden Battlefield, Darley catalogs oral histories and untold stories passed down by guides, community members, and experts at historic sites across the thirteen original colonies.

Part travel guide, part history, part adventure — it's a book for the curious, intrepid traveler who wants to understand not just where history happened, but why it still matters.

A Venue with Its Own Remarkable History

POWERHOUSE Arena isn't just a bookstore — it's a Brooklyn institution. Launched in 2006 by world-renowned publisher POWERHOUSE Books, the Arena is a laboratory for creative thought: a gallery, boutique bookstore, performance space, and events venue at 28 Adams Street in DUMBO, with floor views of the East River waterfront set against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge.

Since its founding, POWERHOUSE Arena has hosted landmark events including the St. Ann's Warehouse after party for the world premiere of Lou Reed's Berlin, The New Yorker Speakeasy, the National Book Foundation's "5 Under 35," and product launches in collaboration with Spike Lee.

Revolutionary Road Trip joins that lineage — a book about the stories that shaped America, launched in a space that has shaped Brooklyn's literary and cultural life for nearly two decades.
